Meat Packing District Loft Show Description
This apartment was originally a 1600 sq ft one floor residence with 16′ ceilings overlooking West Street in Manhattan’s Meat Packing District. The space was gutted and reconfigured with a steel mezzanine level suspended from the structural ceiling adding an additional 600 sq ft of floating space to the residence creating a unique two level apartment with views of the Hudson River.
The dining room, living room, kitchen, and media room flow from one to the other along the apartment’s Hudson River side. To exploit the spectacular views up and down the river all new custom sound attenuating windows were installed. The result is a loft that has the feeling of spaciousness, but still retains the formality that comes with discreet rooms.
An extensive use of millwork in all rooms reduces reliance on furniture and further enhances the open feeling of the apartment. Paneling and cabinetry are a combination of different wood veneers. Floors are natural oak throughout with matching treads on the custom staircase to the second floor. A new state of the art heating and AC system was installed controlled by a Lutron computer system that gives fingertip control to all of the residences systems.
Hesco Construction is proud to have participated in the buildout of this unique residence.
